A current English teacher at Johnson Central High School, Matt Cantrell, was recently selected to present at the annual AP Conference July 17-21 in Orlando, Florida at Disney World. To be chosen for this honor, Cantrell had to write a proposal, apply, and then have his application go through a tough steering committee. In simpler words, it is very hard to get chosen.
As well as just announcing the line-up, Cantrell is first out of the gate at the AP English main conference day 1. There he will present about research he did for his doctoral work. It involves using literary criticism as models for writing in literature courses. This work also will be published as an article on this topic in the Fall 2018 issue of the journal of the Two-Year College Association--Southeast. It’s safe to say, JCHS is going to be representing nationally and well.
