The Johnson Central wrestling team made a name for themselves at the state level this year. Coached by Jim Matney, Zane Burt, Darren Gamble, and Blake Gamble, they were able to achieve the title of champions at the state duals. After the duals, they competed at Alltech Arena in Lexington, Kentucky where they earned team large state champions overall runners up. Many of the wrestlers were able to place in their own weight classes. These include 2 time state champion senior Byron Pierce in the 285 pound weight class and Matt Horn, also a senior, won the 195 weight class state champion title. Dalton (Opey) Lawson placed 3rd in the state in the 113 weight class. Senior Joe Jackson placed 5th in the 170 weight class. Levid Rodriguez placed 7th in the 182 weight class.
