In honor of National Apprenticeship Week, we'd like to recognize our 12th grade Dataseam Apprentices: Ben Moore, Brandon Holbrook, and Nick Hardin.
These students are not only taking several dual credit and college level courses, they are also participating in a paid apprenticeship, earning an industry certification, and gaining valuable skills that will be transferrable to the workforce. These students are also part of the 34 member Apprenticeship Building America grant program (funded by the Department of Labor).

In honor of National Apprenticeship Week, we'd like to recognize our 11th grade Dataseam Apprentices: Ryan Rice, Grace Blackburn, and Brannon Campbell.
These students are not only taking several dual credit and college level courses, they are also participating in a paid apprenticeship, earning an industry certification, and gaining valuable skills that will be transferrable to the workforce. These students are also part of the 34 member Apprenticeship Building America grant program (funded by the Department of Labor).
Last week, the JCHS National Honor Society visited 3rd-5th grade classrooms at WR Castle Elementary. During their visit, they shared information about the importance of Veterans Day and helped the students write thank you letters to veterans.
Representative Bobby McCool and Johnson County Judge-Executive Mark McKenzie met with EagleX - a solar car racing team at Johnson Central High School. They heard from staff and students about their car, christened “Holler Pride,” and their intentions to race at Kentucky Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway. The event in Texas, the Solar Car Challenge (solarcarchallenge.org), is an engineering design competition that challenges students to design and fabricate an electric vehicle that is recharged with solar panels. This event is an endurance race where the winners will be the team with the most laps. At Johnson Central, EagleX, is combining the expertise and talents of teachers and students in several career pathways. For example, much of the car's design philosophy starts with engineering students who work with welding and construction technology students to have the car fabricated. During the process multimedia students document and promote the project while even culinary students thank our sponsors with events and meals. Teachers at Johnson Central feel that this large-scale project-based approach creates fidelity to learning skills that serve as an analog to real-world experience. The team, EagleX, aims to have the car under power and testing for competition by spring. More information can be found at eaglexsolar.com.
Exciting news for our district! Johnson County Superintendent Thom Cochran recently announced that an agreement had been reached with ARH Connected Care to provide a licensed Nurse Practitioner full-time to the district. Students, staff, and their families all may utilize her in person and telehealth services. The attached flyer has more info as well as the QR code for the ARH paperwork. This is an awesome bonus service that the district is proud to offer to everyone and it is so great when the district can offer a "doctor on demand" each day of the week.
There will be no student pickup on campus TODAY due to pavement work near the outside of our back gate. If you normally pick your child up on campus, TODAY they will exit through the McDonald's gate and meet you in front of Shoe Show or Gordmans. So please be parked near Gordmans or Show instead of our rear parking lot. Faculty and staff will be on hand to direct students and ensure their safety.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but normal back parking lot pick up and drop off will resume on Friday.
Today's student drivers will be dismissed at 3:15pm today to allow their exit before paving begins.
JCHS parents, students, and teachers, please check your email for a very important school safety survey. We desire your honest opinion on the safety of you and your student(s) here at JCHS and the results of the survey will steer improvement practices for the future. We have been given an extension for students to sign up for the STEAM event at Big Sandy on November 18, 2022. We will provide transportation and a bag lunch, and encourage our students to take advantage of this opportunity. If you are interested in attending and haven't already signed up please stop by and see Mrs. Murphy by noon tomorrow.
These students took the October 22 or 23 national ACT and improved their score on one or more subject areas! Way to go!!

Parents of children 16 and over please ensure that your child has received their Meningococcal booster and is up to date on their Hepatitis A vaccine. If they have not received them please get them before Christmas break. These are required childhood vaccinations.
